Someone once mentioned the "2nd sleep" to me, and I thought little of it. Truly a fascinating article! I'll now get up and do something constructive instead of getting angry that I can't get back to sleep! This is my normal sleeping pattern ever since I’ve had chronic pain. I can’t help it. I’ve tried to break it and just end up rolling with it. It helps to vary position and I also did it when I was a nursing mom. I called it the second session when I could lay back down from 6am to 9 am and get a bit more sleep. My pain is also worst in the morning and some days I add an afternoon nap too when needed if the night sleep was not very good or slim to none.
